Katherine Grace, 16, my sister, was diagnosed with Autism at age 3.
Two years ago after an incident at school where she was found passed out on the bathroom floor confused and convinced that someone was following her, she was also diagnosed with prodromal schizophrenia, a preliminary phase of a worsening psychosis.
She lives in low-income housing with my mother, Lisa, 51, who suffers from depression due to childhood trauma.
Despite their hurdles, both together and alone, they are beautifully intertwined.
